National Thermal Power Corporation has announced that a MOU was signed on 08 August 2008 at New Delhi amongst NTPC, NHP, Power Finance Corporation and Tata Consultancy Services for incorporation of a joint venture company to set-up and operate a power exchange at national level.

This power exchange would provide a neutral and transparent electronic platform for trading of power on day ahead basis and ensure clearing of all trades in a transparent, fair and open manner with access to all players in the power markets.

The company made this announcement during the trading hours today, 11 August 2008.
