A consumer survey has found Nokia to be once again the best mobile phone brand in the Asia Pacific region, a TNS statement said.

A global market information and insight group TNS in conjunction with Asia's leading media, marketing and advertising publication, Media, released on Friday the results of the 'Asia Pacific's Top 1000 Brands' survey for 2008.

Apart from Nokia in the mobile phone category, Sony topped the consumer electronics category while Hewlett Packard and ICICI topped the laptop and banking categories.

Following as second to these were Samsung, Sony Ericsson, Dell and state-owned bank, State Bank of India in the same categories, respectively, an official statement said.

In total, 3,600 people were interviewed for the survey across 10 countries including consumers from Japan, Korea and Australia who were added in the list for the first time.

These, together with respondents from China, Hong Kong, India, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand were drawn from TNS' online access panels, the statement added.
