Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan has stormed out of a panel discussion on Gaza war after he was not given a chance to reply to comments made by Israeli President Shimon Peres at World Economic Forum meeting here.
Erdogan wanted to speak for one more time after Pares made his remarks at the session 'Gaza: The Case for Middle East Peace', but the moderator did not allow him as the session time came to an end.
An angry Turkish Prime Minister then walked off the session held here last evening.
Soon after that, an emergency press conference was held by WEF President Klaus Schwab to assuage the Turkish Prime Minister.
Schwab said: "I regret the session ended this way.
I first want to express my deep concern, because I have great respect for Erdogan. I have to play a tribute to his role he is playing in the (peace) process of Middle East."
Explaining his position, the Turkish Prime Minister said that during his remarks in various deliberations, he underlined the message of peace, whereas Peres raised his voice from time to time and spoke in a manner and style that is not in line with the Davos spirit of mutual understanding.
He said he never targeted Israeli people, Peres or the Jewish People in his statements at Davos.
"I am the Prime Minister and leader who has specifically stated that anti-Semitism is a crime against humanity," Erdogan said.
