Ford India cuts Endeavour price by Rs 6,000 post-Budget
Press Trust of India
Tuesday, July 07, 2009 (Chennai)

Passing on the benefit of excise duty cut on large cars proposed in the Union Budget to its customers, car maker Ford India on Tuesday reduced the price of its premium SUV Endeavour by Rs 6,000.

"This new pricing of the Endeavour is a direct result of the announcement made in yesterday's Union Budget", a release from the company, which has a manufacturing facility near Chennai, said.

Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee has proposed reduction in the excise duty applicable on cars of engine capacity 2000 cc and above from Rs 20,000 to Rs 15,000 per vehicle. "The additional duty reduction has been a welcome step taken by the government though the reduction is limited only to large cars. We are pleased to pass the benefit of the reduction on the Endeavour to the consumer in its entirety."

Ford India Vice-President (Sales) Tim Tucker said. The price reduction of Rs. 6,000 would be applicable to all three variants of the Endeavour, the release added.

"I am disappointed with the Budget.
The shipping and shipbuilding
industry generates a lot of revenues
and employment. But it finds no mention
of the sector in the Budget."
