Jaiprakash Hydro-Power dropped 2.11% to Rs 79.05 at 11:33 IST after net profit dipped 6.64% to Rs 62.41 crore on 1.21% fall in total income to Rs 114.15 crore in Q2 September 2009 over Q2 September 2008.
The Q2 results were announced after market hours on Thursday, 15 October 2009.
Meanwhile, the BSE Sensex was up 92.44 points, or 0.54%, to 17,287.64
On BSE, 6.35 lakh shares were traded in the counter. The scrip had an average daily volume of 26.67 lakh shares in the past one quarter.
The stock hit a high of Rs 80 and a low of Rs 77.90 so far during the day. The stock had hit a 52-week high of Rs 103.70 on 5 June 2009 and a 52-week low of Rs 22.65 on 27 October 2008.
The stock had underperformed the market over the past one month till 15 October 2009, declining 2.30% as compared to the Sensex's 4.50% rise. It had also underperformed the market in the past one quarter, rising 2.54% as compared to the Sensex's return of 20.64%.
The mid-cap hydroelectric power producer has an equity capital of Rs 491 crore. Face value per share is Rs 10.
The current price of Rs 79.05 discounts the Q1 June 2009 annualised EPS of Rs 2.98, by a PE multiple of 26.52
On 12 October, Jaiprakash Hydro-Power announced that the shareholders and the creditors of Jaiprakash Hydro-Power and Jaiprakash Power Ventures have in its their respective meetings convened on 10 October 2009, have unanimously approved the proposed scheme of amalgamation of Jaiprakash Hydro-Power with Jaiprakash Power Ventures without any modification.
Jaiprakash Associates holds 63.34% in Jaiprakash Hydro-Power and 80.20% in Jaiprakash Power Ventures.
Jaiprakash Power Ventures had originally planned to mop around Rs 4,000 crore through an initial public offer (IPO) in 2008, but due to poor market conditions, it did not enter the capital market. The unlisted firm is setting up over half a dozen thermal and hydro power plants with a combined capacity of around 8,000 megawatts (MW) in various states. In addition, it has a 400 MW hydro power plant in Uttarakhand.
Jaiprakash Hydro-Power, a part of the Jaypee Group owns and operates the 300-megawatts (MW) Baspa-II Hydroelectric Project in Himachal Pradesh.
