Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) sold shares worth a net Rs 391.60 crore on Wednesday, 21 October 2009, as against a huge inflow of Rs 1770 crore on Tuesday, 20 October 2009.
FII outflow of Rs 391.60 crore on 21 October 2009 was a results of gross purchases Rs 2758.30 crore and gross sales Rs 3149.90 crore. The BSE Sensex fell 213.84 points or 1.24% to 17,009.17 on that day.
FII inflow in October 2009 totaled Rs 7,947.50 crore (till 21 October 2009). Foreign funds had bought equities worth Rs 17,328 crore in September 2009. FII inflow in the calendar year 2009 totaled Rs 68,084.60 crore (till 21 October 2009).
There are a total of 1695 foreign funds registered with the Securities & Exchange Board of India (Sebi).
