Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) sold shares worth a net Rs 295.80 crore on Thursday, 22 October 2009, lower than Rs 391.70 crore on Wednesday, 21 October 2009.
FII outflow of Rs 295.80 crore on 22 October 2009 was a results of gross purchases Rs 2682.50 crore and gross sales Rs 2978.30 crore. The BSE Sensex fell 219.43 points or 1.29% to 16789.74 on that day.
FII inflow in October 2009 totaled Rs 7,651.80 crore (till 22 October 2009). Foreign funds had bought equities worth Rs 17,328 crore in September 2009. FII inflow in the calendar year 2009 totaled Rs 67,788.90 crore (till 22 October 2009).
There are a total of 1696 foreign funds registered with the Securities & Exchange Board of India (Sebi).
