The key benchmark indices were flat in the noon deals today. The Sensex was down 12 points at 16,797 levels and the Nifty was down 7 points to 4,989. “The markets are likely to take a breather this week. Going forward, markets will look at growth in the second half of the fiscal year,” said Alok B Agarwal, Head Research Advisory, Fortune Financial Services. While IT and pharma stocks rose, metals and capital goods counters were under pressure. Among the Sensex stocks, Grasim Ind led the gainers. The stock rose 2.6 per cent. TCS, ITC and Sun Pharma were the other major gainers in the pack. Asian markets were trading higher today. Japan’s Nikkei was up 0.6 per cent. The Shanghai Composite in China was trading flat.
