Drug maker Lupin spurted 5.20% to Rs 1,233.10. The stock topped the gainers in the BSE's 'A' group. Lupin, after market hours on 28 October 2009, said that rating agency ICRA has assigned the rating of 'LAA+' to the company's non convertible debenture programme of Rs 500 crore. 'LAA+' is the high-credit-quality rating assigned by ICRA to long-term debt instruments.
Lupin, on 26 October 2009, had reported a 25% decline in net profit to Rs 98.37 crore on a 7.2% increase in sales to Rs 806.87 crore in Q2 September 2009 over Q2 September 2008.
India's largest tractor maker by sales Mahindra & Mahindra jumped 3.93% to Rs 927.75 after net profit soared 185% to Rs 702.94 crore on a 35.1% increase in total income to Rs 4691.08 crore in Q2 September 2009 over Q2 September 2008. The result, which was higher than market expectation, was announced during trading hours today, 29 October 2009. Mahindra & Mahindra was the second biggest gainer in 'A' group.
Mahindra & Mahindra said the result is not comparable with the corresponding quarter of the previous year since the company merged Punjab Tractors with itself effective, 1 August 2008.
Engneering company Voltas climbed 3.19% to Rs 153.60 after net profit rose 30% to Rs 80.64 crore on a 8% increase in total income to Rs 1018.12 crore in Q2 September 2009 over Q2 September 2008. The result was announced during trading hours today, 29 October 2009. Voltas was the third biggest gainer in 'A' group.
Public sector lender Bank of Baroda flared up 3.10% to Rs 512.55 after net profit rose 60.4% to Rs 634.18 crore on a 17.5% increase in operating income to Rs 4730.75 crore in Q2 September 2009 over Q2 September 2008. The result was announced during trading hours on Wednesday, 28 October 2009, when the stock ended higher 2.14% at Rs 497.15 on the BSE. Bank of Baroda was the fourth biggest gainer in 'A' group.
Female hygiene products maker Procter & Gamble Hygiene & Health Care rose 3% to Rs 1,471.25 ahead of its Q1 September 2009 result announcement later today, 29 October 2009. The stock was the fifth biggest gainer in 'A' group.
