FMCG company HUL on Saturday reported 21.6 per cent decline in its net profit at Rs 428.53 crore in the second quarter ended September 30, as against the same period last fiscal.
HUL had a net profit of Rs 546.61 crore in the second quarter ended September 30, 2008, the company said in a filing to the BSE.
"Net profit declined by 21.6 per cent due to exceptional gains from property disposal in the prior year and exceptional charge largely due to a provision related to the settlement signed with erstwhile workers of a closed unit in the current period," the company said.
However, the company's net sales witnessed 5 per cent increase to Rs 4,228.11 crore in the quarter ended September 30, as compared with the corresponding period last fiscal.
HUL had a net sales of Rs 4,027.87 crore in the quarter ended September 30, 2008.
