While more comfortable on a race track, the R8 does offer its users the flexibility of everyday driving too.
The car's looks have been tweaked with an edgier grille, round tailpipes and new all-LED lights.
On the inside the R8 has full-leather treatment, with quilted seat and door cover panels. The R8's USP since launch has been its very light yet stiff aluminium space frame body which weighs just 210 kgs.
The seven-speed S-Tronic gearbox has been enhanced and upgraded, and the car still features Audi's famed Quattro all-wheel drive technology.
Engines include the 4.2 litre V8 (430 bhp) and 5.2 litre V10 (525 bhp).
There are three variants on offer: The V8 Coupe (Rs 1.34 crore), the V10 Coupe (Rs 1.57 crore), and the V10 Spyder or convertible (Rs 1.73 crore) - all prices are ex-showroom Delhi.
Audi had a very successful 2012 in India, selling 9003 cars, and hopes to cross the 10,000 figure in sales in 2013. It is also targeting the number one slot, as it closed 2012 at second place, just about 300 units shy of BMW India's sales.
The R8 is also featured in the upcoming masala thriller Race 2, along with Audi's A8, TT Coupe, A4 and Q7.
