After Duster, Renault to unveil sedan before Diwali in India

Mamallapuram (Tamil Nadu): After launching its SUV Duster, auto major Renault is planning to unveil its sedan before Diwali, a top company official said on Thursday.

Interacting with reporters after the launch of SUV Duster on Wednesday evening, Renault India managing director Marc Nassif said the last of the five products the company promised earlier would be launched "certainly before Diwali".

However, he declined to elaborate.

The French automobile major has already attained localization up to 60 per cent, Nassif said, adding that it would soon be 80 per cent on its products.

The company was also investing heavily on the machines, he said. As on July 5, Duster had over 4,000 bookings from across the country, he claimed.

Underlining the prediction that India would become the third largest automobile market by 2020, he said there was enough room for competition and the best product would surpass others.

Renault would open its 100th outlet in the country by 2013 end, with the company already opening 55th outlet by June end this year, he claimed.

Renault has launched Fluence, Koleos, Pulse and now the Duster for Indian market.

Renault's Chennai facility would export to the UK by the end of this year, he said, adding, he would look upon South Africa and other countries later.

Asked about the company's investment in the Chennai facility, he said it was planned to invest Rs 4,500 crore by February 2015.
