Mumbai: The Prime Minister’s Office on Friday released a roadmap for various infrastructure projects in key sectors, saying the Navi Mumbai airport project will be awarded by March 2013.

The Prime Minister had on July identified these ‘key’ sectors, comprising shipping, civil aviation and railways.

Under the new roadmap, the aviation will have to complete consultation on Navi Mumbai airport by August 15. The PMO is discussing with the Maharashtra government to finalise the public-private partnership (PPP) model for the same, the PMO said in a late evening statement.

The aviation ministry will also move a note to the Cabinet Committee on infrastructure-related matters.

The PMO will also set up a standing inter-ministerial group for all new PPP airports.

The PMO also said that the elevated rail corridor in Mumbai is currently the railway project that is in the most advanced stage.

“The technical feasibility study has already been conducted. A Draft State Support Agreement has been agreed to between the Government of Maharashtra and the Ministry,” the PMO statement said, adding that the project will be implemented in PPP mode, and the concessionaire finalized by March 15.

In the shipping sector, the ministry of shipping will finalise the site for a new port in Andhra Pradesh by August 31, while a note will be presented to the Cabinet for September 30 to seek ‘in-principle’ approval for the project.

The state support agreement for a major port at Sagar will be finalised and executed by August 1, the PMO statement said, and the matter will be presented to the Cabinet for consideration and approval by September 30.
