Southern states doing better on financial inclusion, says Chidambaram: Highlights

Finance Minister P. Chidambaram today met the chief ministers of southern states and heads of public sector banks based out of south India and discussed a range of issues, including direct transfer of cash for work done under the MGNREGA scheme and disbursal of loans to the agriculture and SME sector.

He addressed a press conference after the meeting. Here are the highlights:

  1. Agenda was on flow of credit to different sectors, progress of centrally sponsored schemes.
  2. Southern states doing well on financial inclusion, credit delivery.
  3. All central subsidies will be transferred to beneficiaries under EBT.
