TRAI in its direction to Uninor also asked the company to facilitate shifting their numbers to networks of other service providers. The regulator directed other telecom operators to accept porting request of Uninor customers.
TRAI also directed Uninor to publish procedure for porting number and refund of money in newspapers and on its websites.
Uninor had informed TRAI that it had to close its operations in 15 service areas following the Supreme Court order of February 15, 2013 which did not permit operators to continue services without acquiring spectrum through auction process. Uninor had 10,12,630 customers in Mumbai and Kolkata.
