New Delhi: The rupee gave up gains on Wednesday after rising for a second successive session in the early morning trade, tracking the euro's strength. At 9.01 a.m., the rupee was at 54.97/99 to a dollar as against 55.1250/1450 last close.

However, it depreciated by 10 paise to Rs. 55.21 against the dollar on the Interbank Foreign Exchange as the American currency strengthened against the euro overseas.

Sustained foreign funds inflows into the equity market capped the losses, traders said.
