Tokyo stocks down 1.24% by break

The benchmark Nikkei-225 index lost 185.63 points to 14,728.90 by the break, while the Topix index of all first-section shares slipped 1.16 per cent, or 14.10 points, to 1,206.54.

Tokyo stocks fell 1.24 per cent on Monday morning as profit-taking set in following a tumble on Wall Street stoked by jitters over emerging markets and several US corporate earnings disappointments.

The benchmark Nikkei-225 index lost 185.63 points to 14,728.90 by the break, while the Topix index of all first-section shares slipped 1.16 per cent, or 14.10 points, to 1,206.54.
