Royal Enfield: As Royal Enfield unveiled its new Thurderbird 500 cc, NDTV Profit caught up with Siddharth Lal, CEO, Royal Enfield. He told NDTV that the new Thurderbird will be commercially available by the first half of 2012 “We are also building a new Royal Enfield plant in the outskirts of Chennai, which will be operational from early 2013,” he told us along the sidelines of Auto Expo 2012. According to the company head, the overall capacity of its production units will be go upto 1,50,000 units per annum after the new plant is inaugurated. Its current capacity is 75,000 units per annum. “Construction for the new plant is already underway,” said Siddharth Lal.

Mercedes Benz: Mercedes launches new open top car in India called as SLS AMG Roadster. It has also presented a product in its M class series along with future design cues in the A class series. The Daimler managed auto manufacturer gave some more idea on its performance in the Indian markets. “The Mercedes Benz sold 7,430 units in period from January to December in 2011,” the company announced. It further expects a 30 per cent year on year growth.
