The latest edition of The Property Show takes a look at private equity funding in the real estate space in the country. Om Chaudhry, chief executive, Fire Capital Fund, says that the sector continues to look good even today despite the negative sentiments weighing on the Indian economy, especially residential real estate. He was seconded by Sunil Rohokale, MD and CEO, ASK Group, who said that while the interest in the real estate segment remains intact, it is the fund-raising that has to catch up. He says most of the dry-powder that companies had has been invested and now there's a lull. Sunil Mantri, chairman of the Sunil Mantri Group, explains that the sector was not expecting a lot of interest from PE players because of the high risk perceived, and even those who showed interest expect a lot of return on their investments.
