The banking sector expects deposit and lending rates to continue trending downwards. While bankers are not very hopeful of action from the RBI, they are not ruling out a more dovish stance from the central bank. ADM Chavali of Indian Overseas Bank says that a dovish stance combined with easy liquidity may allow banks to ease rates in some lending segments. He also says that while credit demand remains weak for now, it could pick up in the coming quarters due to seasonal factors.
