Mumbai likely to miss tax collection target

The finance ministry may have hiked the direct tax target for Mumbai circle to Rs. 1.53 lakh crore from Rs. 1.5 lakh crore earlier. But sources tell NDTV that the city is expected to disappoint the finance minister this time and may miss the target. The banking sector which contributes close to 32 per cent of the total advance collections is likely to be muted.
