RBI asks oil firms to buy 50% dollar needs from state-owned banks

RBI has asked oil marketing firms like HPCL, BPCL to buy 50 per cent of their dollar needs from the state, in a bid to control rupee's free fall against the dollar. The rupee hit new lifetime lows of 57.16 to the dollar in afternoon trade on Friday.
